In a world of emails, messages and digital notifications, there's something wonderfully special about receiving something through the letterbox that someone has taken the time to create.

Examples of what might be in your monthly package

Each month is inspired by a flower in season, with a curated collection of botanical treasures inside:

  • A hand-signed botanical art print – Featuring one of my watercolour or coloured pencil illustrations of the month's flower. Each artwork begins with an intricate drawing or painting that takes many hours to create, before being printed onto beautiful 300gsm textured card and hand-signed by me.

  • A thoughtfully written two-page letter from me – Reflecting on the month, discussing the reasons for choosing the particular flower, details about the process and any other fun tidbits I've found out about the flower! (Did you know Agatha Christie particularly loved dahlias? ...or that the bottom petals of pansies have tiny hairs on them leading to the centre to guide bees to the pollen?!)

  • A botanical fact sheet – Filled with facts about the month's featured flower, from its scientific characteristics and botanical curiosities to its history, folklore and interesting little discoveries. There may even be the occasional poem or literary surprise!

  • A beautiful envelope – Specially colour-matched to the month's flower, complete with an elegant embossed gold stamp. Even the envelope is part of the experience!

  • A colouring sheet – An outline of the month's flower for you to colour in for a relaxing activity, if you wish. (If it's not your thing, get any children / grandkids / neices or nephews involved!)

  • A fold-out print stand – So you can display your botanical artwork in your home!

  • A surprise extra each month! – Perhaps a bookmark, a coaster, a sticker, a gift tag, a greeting card to send on, a themed wordsearch... you'll have to wait to find out!

Perhaps a gift for a loved one living alone?

I started thinking about how lovely this mail club could be for people who are living alone or away from family, particularly older people who may enjoy receiving physical post over texts or emails, and those living in care homes.

Both of my grandmas had dementia and they loved receiving letters - I tried to write as often as I could, but I would have loved to be able to ensure that on top of my letters they were also consistently receiving a beautiful piece of artwork and other luscious goodies.

When visiting my grandma Lucy in her care home, we always tried to bring interesting things to look at and talk about such as magazines. This mail club offers a lovely alternative: a different beautiful flower each month to look at and talk about, using the accompanying fact sheets, poems and letter as conversation prompts.

The flower print comes with a stand which is an easy way to quickly brighten up their room and be discussion and interest point for visitors throughout the month.

Flowers are particularly powerful and accessible conversation topics - they can bring back memories of gardening, weddings, time spent in nature and bouquets received. Botanical illustration is a nostalgic and timeless art style that often appeals to the older generation, perhaps reminding them of artwork they had up in childhood homes in books they read.

So while this is a great gift to yourself or anyone close to you under ordinary circumstances, this is an additional audience who may also beneift from this particular mail club.

FAQs

How long is the membership for?

The membership is monthly rolling. You can cancel anytime in your account settings.

Will I know in advance what the month's flower will be?

Not necessarily! I may share sneek pictures of what I'm working on on my Instagram page, but otherwise you'll have to wait for the surprise!

When do you send them out?

I post the envelopes out around the 29th of each month, 2nd class with Royal Mail. So e.g. the envelope containing May's flower should arrive close to the start of May.

It won't let me sign up

There is a window each month where I take new subscribers - between the 1st and around the 20th of the month. Between the 21st and end of the month I close the sign-ups to allow me to post out next months in time to everyone. So, come back at the start of next month if you miss out this time!

When is payment taken?

Whenever you first sign-up, payment for the next month will be taken right away. Each month you will be charged on the same date. For example, if you purchase the subscription on the 7th May, you will pay the monthly fee on the 7th of each month. The first package you will receive will be the June package. Each month's payment is for the subsequent month.
